Academics/Service

"Don't chase success. Chase excellence and success will follow." - 3 Idiots (my favorite movie)

I love helping people which led me to the path of volunteering. I am currently involved in a two-year teen healthcare internship at Westminster Free Clinic. I get to help uninsured working individuals gain access to proper medical care which is extremely rewarding. I have also learned a lot throughout the duration of this internship which has made me sure that medicine is the right path for me. Additionally,  I took part in the African Library Project for the past two years where I worked with a small group to gather 500-1,000 books for libraries being built in Africa. It was unlike anything I had done before and it prepared me for my next service project in terms of organization and creativity to achieve goals. In coordination with the Ronald Reagan Library, my school hosts the CSI Diploma Seal Program in which one creates their own service project. My friend and I hosted toy drives at our high school and elementary schools sophomore year and all contributions went to the Children's Hospital in LA. We called it the "You Are My Sunshine" project as our main goal was to bring a smile to children's faces and give them some joy during the hard times. All of these projects have helped me become an active member of my community and will push me to make changes/contributions no matter where I go.

I have always been a self-motivated and overachieving student. I have also been a perfectionist since I was in elementary school and always strive for excellence. I love to learn and challenge myself by taking rigorous classes (listed below). One part of the high school experience which I value is being involved. I am a part of the California Scholarship Federation and am a board member of the National Honor Society. As a board member, I influence future classes at Royal High School by promoting community service and building a better student body. I am also one of the scheduling managers for the Sports Medicine Program in addition to being in the class. The class tasks students to act as a response team during sports games if someone gets injured which has gotten me more involved in school sports besides my own.
